• Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Lineartronic

To bring stable, safe and enjoyable on-road performance to every drive—that’s why Subaru has been developing the Symmetrical AWD system since 1972. Matched with the SUBARU BOXER engine for a near-perfect symmetrical layout, it delivers control and composure. The benefits are immediately apparent—more controlled cornering, better traction in slippery conditions, and enhanced acceleration. The overall sensation is that driving becomes an easier, safer and more enjoyable affair.

  • Lineartronic + Active Torque Split AWD

The Impreza achieves inspiring levels of response and efficiency with Lineartronic. By keeping the engine running in its optimal rev range and preserving the momentum that’s often lost during a gear shift, this unique transmission dramatically maximises fuel efficiency. Shift controls keep the ride light, fluid and responsive, with a more direct feel of the SUBARU BOXER engine. The step-less and stepshifting links facilitate confident power delivery upon acceleration. Lineartronic is also longitudinally paired with an active torque split AWD system that responds to traction conditions by continuously controlling the torque distribution front to rear.

Few other cars drive with the fun and eagerness of Impreza, so you won’t be surprised by how uniquely this is accomplished. The horizontally opposed configuration of the SUBARU BOXER engine places the pistons 180 degrees apart, for a lower, flatter profile than that of other engine types. This gives the engine, and overall vehicle, a lower centre of gravity and a more balanced distribution of weight. Furthermore, the pistons’ opposing movements inherently counteract each other, naturally helping to reduce vibration.

  • 2.0-litre DOHC SUBARU BOXER

    MAX OUTPUT: 110 kW (150 PS) / 6,200 rpm
    MAX TORQUE: 196 Nm (20.0 kgfm) / 4,200 rpm
    FUEL CONSUMPTION*: 7.0 lit./100 km
    CO₂ EMISSIONS*: 160 g/km

  • 1.6-litre DOHC SUBARU BOXER

    MAX OUTPUT: 84 kW (114 PS) / 5,600 rpm
    MAX TORQUE: 150 Nm (15.3 kgfm) / 4,000 rpm
    FUEL CONSUMPTION*: 6.1 lit./100 km
    CO₂ EMISSIONS*: 140 g/km

  • Increased Stability

Because the engine block has a flatter profile and sits lower in the chassis, the overall vehicle is more stably balanced and resistant to side-to-side motion than other designs.

  • Long-lasting Performance

The engine’s flat design is inherently rigid and self-balancing, generating less vibration than V-type or in-line engines in the same class for more durability and more reliable performance.
